Frequently asked questions

Translation stays on “preparing.”

Check translation readiness for your selected language inside the app and confirm that Full Access is enabled for the keyboard. Once resources finish downloading, reopen the app you were typing in and try again.

Tapping the translation does not replace the text.

Wait until the latest translation is ready, then try again. If you see a text-range warning, select the text you want to replace and apply the translation. Failed replacements do not use a free tap.

What do casual and formal tones do?

These optional features use Apple Intelligence to adjust the tone of your translation. They require iOS 26 or later, a compatible device, Apple Intelligence enabled, and the AI model ready. Availability varies by language and region. Basic translation does not require Apple Intelligence.

Which iPhones are supported?

Tap My Words requires iOS 26 or later. Basic translation uses downloaded resources for supported languages. AI tone options require an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone; availability depends on your device, language, region, and model readiness.

How do free taps and paid access work?

Typing and translation previews are free. You get 5 successful tap replacements per day across all supported language directions, resetting at midnight UTC. Failed or no-change taps do not count. Premium gives unlimited tap replacements. The 7-day pass is a one-time purchase and ends 7 days after purchase. Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically. See pricing

My purchase is not showing in the keyboard.

Open the Premium screen in the main Tap My Words app to refresh purchase status. Use Restore Purchases if needed. Reopen the keyboard after refreshing. Keyboard entitlement status may need to be refreshed in the main app after its local verification period expires.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Use Manage Subscriptions in the app, or Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel an automatically renewing subscription.

Does it work in every text field?

Secure text fields and apps that restrict third-party keyboards are not supported. In other fields, replacement may depend on how the host app supplies text context.
